Fall In Love With You...AGAIN.

3 Things I Learned From Doing NAKED YOGA

I was always comfortable with my body. It was easy. I was 5’7, 115 lbs and shaped like an hourglass. There was no shortage of compliments coming my way. Anytime I didn’t feel comfortable about myself there were people around who told me otherwise.

That all changed when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. The pain that engulfed my body forced me to spend more time hibernating on the sofa. The zombie-like medications all had one common side effect…weight gain.

Watch Me Move

Thanks to Lupus I’ve had to really focus. I have always liked to be active and I use to beat myself up on my inability to keep the momentum going. Then Lupus showed up a year ago and asked me to refocus on more gentler forms of activity after she insisted that I taking 6 months off to just rest and relax. And to tell you the truth I got tired of jumping up and down. I’ve been heading down this yoga path since January. Hot yoga 1x week and Contessa has shown me a kinder and sweeter my to connect with myself every day. Lupus says I’m doing so much better because she doesn’t stick around too long lately to remind me to take care of myself. On the physical side, my joints, my general stamina are so much better. Big up to Contessa. Thank you.

I’ve always done hatha-vinyasa yoga; doing yin yoga is allowing me to be more in tune with my body and how each pose feels, versus rushing to get through the sequence.

“I got home from work and as I was changing into my comfy clothes I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Normally my first impulse is to think “fatty” “cow” etc. This time I didn’t. I just looked. I thought to myself… that’s me. Nothing negative or even positive… just working on accepting what I see. I don’t see the beauty yet, but I’m working not seeing negative as I see my imperfections. Even if I lose weight, I’ll always have imperfections.

“I love your video! You have some great modifications that I would love to use for my knee mobility/stability issues. Thanks so much.”

“I f*cking love what you are doing. You are so brave and beautiful and YOUR flavor of yoga is what I’ve been looking for FOR OVER A DECADE. “
